How We Decant: Authenticity & Process

How We Decant: Authenticity & Process

When you buy a perfume decant, you're buying a small amount of fragrance in a different bottle.

That sounds simple, but there is an important question behind it:

Where did the perfume in that little bottle actually come from?

We think that's a reasonable question.

At NawmeEssences, we sell perfume decants from our personal fragrance collection, and we want customers to understand exactly what a decant is, how we prepare one, and what you're actually receiving when you place an order.

This page explains our process as openly as we can.

In this guide

What is a perfume decant?

A perfume decant is a smaller quantity of fragrance transferred from a larger original bottle into a smaller atomizer.

The purpose is simple. Instead of purchasing an entire bottle, you can purchase a smaller amount and try the fragrance first.

For example, if you choose a 5ml decant, you are not buying a 5ml bottle produced by the fragrance house. You are buying a smaller quantity of the fragrance transferred into a decant bottle.

That's an important distinction.

A decant is not automatically a clone, inspired fragrance, perfume oil, or a diluted version of the original. It is simply a smaller presentation of the fragrance.

Once you're ready to explore the collection, you can browse all fragrances.

Where our decants come from

Our decants start with the perfumes in our personal collection.

We don't treat the decant bottle as the source of the fragrance. The original perfume bottle is the source, and the smaller atomizer is simply the container we use to provide the quantity you've ordered.

This is also why we show the fragrance itself on our product pages rather than trying to make the decant look like an official miniature produced by the fragrance house.

We are selling a decant, and we want that to be clear.

How we prepare a decant

The process is straightforward.

1. We start with the original fragrance

We first have the fragrance in its original bottle.

Before making it available as a decant, we look at the bottle and its overall presentation.

Depending on the fragrance, this can include details such as the packaging, bottle construction, cap, labels, printing, batch information where available, and the fragrance itself.

We don't believe one individual detail can prove authenticity on its own. Instead, we consider the overall product and what we know about the fragrance.

2. The original bottle is the source

Once a fragrance is selected for decanting, the perfume comes directly from that bottle.

The smaller atomizer does not contain a separately sourced perfume that we simply associate with the fragrance name.

The purpose of decanting is to transfer part of the fragrance into a more practical size.

3. We measure and transfer the perfume

The amount you order is measured and transferred into the appropriate decant size.

We use a syringe for accurate volume measurement during the decanting process.

At NawmeEssences, our available sizes include:

3ml · 5ml · 10ml · 15ml · 30ml

The bottle is then prepared and labelled with the fragrance information and size.

4. We check the finished decant

Before an order is packed, we check the decant to make sure it is properly closed, labelled and ready for delivery.

It sounds like a small step, but it matters.

A perfume decant is only useful if the fragrance arrives safely and the customer knows exactly what they received.

5. We pack it for delivery

The finished decant is packed for delivery within Bangladesh.

Because perfume is a liquid and the atomizer is a small physical component, proper packaging matters just as much as the decanting itself.

Our goal is straightforward:

The fragrance you ordered should reach you in the condition we intended to send it.

How you can check our perfumes yourself

We understand that some customers would rather see and check a perfume physically before placing an order.

That's why NawmeEssences offers self-pickup in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, along with our other pickup points.

More importantly, customers who want to check a fragrance in person can visit our Aftabnagar location and physically inspect the original bottle and fragrance for themselves.

You don't have to rely solely on photographs or a statement on a website.

You can see the bottle in person, examine its packaging and presentation, and ask us questions about the fragrance and its source.

For us, transparency means being willing to show customers what we're actually selling.

What we don't do

There are also some things we want to make clear.

We don't present a decant as an official miniature

A decant prepared by NawmeEssences is a NawmeEssences decant.

It is not an official miniature produced by the fragrance manufacturer.

The fragrance may be the same, but the packaging is not the same product.

We think being clear about this is important.

We don't dilute the fragrance

We don't add another liquid simply to increase the volume of a fragrance and sell more decants from the same bottle.

The purpose of our decants is to provide smaller quantities of the fragrance we have, not to manufacture additional volume.

We don't mix fragrances

A decant sold as one fragrance should contain that fragrance.

We don't combine different perfumes and sell the mixture under the name of one of them.

What about authenticity?

Authenticity is one of the biggest concerns people have when buying perfume online, especially when the product arrives in a small bottle without the original retail packaging.

We understand that.

That's why our approach is to be transparent about what we sell rather than simply putting “100% authentic” on every page and expecting customers to take our word for it.

Our decants come from the fragrances in our personal collection, and we keep the original bottles from which we prepare them.

We also make our physical location available to customers who want to inspect the fragrances themselves.

If you want to know about a particular fragrance, its bottle, its batch, its availability or its decant size, you can contact us before ordering.

We would rather explain the product properly than make a vague authenticity claim.

And when you visit us in person, what you smell from the original bottle is what we decant for you.

Why can the same perfume smell different?

This is another question we think deserves an honest answer.

If you've smelled a fragrance before and then try another bottle of the same fragrance, the experience may not always be identical.

There are several possible reasons.

Batch differences

Fragrance manufacturers can change formulas over time. Ingredients, regulations, suppliers and production processes can change.

That means two legitimate bottles from different production periods can sometimes have noticeable differences.

Storage

How a fragrance has been stored can also affect its condition over time. Heat, light and unsuitable storage conditions aren't ideal for perfume.

Age

A fragrance can also change as it ages.

Your skin

And finally, perfume doesn't smell exactly the same on everyone.

Skin chemistry, temperature, humidity and application can all influence how a fragrance develops.

So if a decant smells different from a fragrance you remember from several years ago, that difference alone does not establish that the decant is counterfeit.

It is worth looking at the wider context, including the bottle, batch and when the two fragrances were produced.

Why our prices vary between fragrances

You may notice that the price per ml isn't the same for every fragrance.

That's intentional.

Perfumes have different bottle prices and different sourcing costs. A decant of a relatively inexpensive fragrance and a decant of a much more expensive fragrance cannot realistically have the same underlying cost.

Our pricing therefore varies by fragrance and size.

We try to keep our pricing straightforward rather than relying on bargaining or constantly changing prices.

What you receive

When you order a NawmeEssences decant, you're purchasing:

  • The fragrance you've selected
  • Your chosen decant size
  • A labelled decant atomizer
  • Perfume transferred from the fragrance bottle
  • Packaging suitable for delivery

Available sizes currently include:

3ml, 5ml, 10ml, 15ml and 30ml.

If you're unsure which size makes sense for a particular fragrance, you can always start smaller and decide later whether you want more.

Common questions

Are NawmeEssences decants taken from original bottles?

Yes. Our decants are prepared from the original fragrance bottles in our collection.

Are the perfumes diluted?

We do not dilute the fragrances or add another liquid to increase their volume.

Do you mix different perfumes together?

No. A decant sold as a particular fragrance is intended to contain that fragrance, not a mixture.

What sizes are available?

We currently offer 3ml, 5ml, 10ml, 15ml and 30ml sizes, depending on the fragrance.

Can I check a perfume physically before ordering?

Yes. Customers can visit our Aftabnagar pickup location in Dhaka and inspect the fragrance physically.

Is a NawmeEssences decant an official miniature?

No. It is a decant prepared by NawmeEssences. The fragrance comes from the original bottle, but the smaller atomizer is not an official miniature produced by the fragrance house.

Why we're explaining all of this

We don't expect a blog post to prove authenticity by itself.

A written claim on a website is still just a claim.

What we can do is explain our process, show our products, answer questions, keep the original bottles from which our decants are prepared, and be clear about what we are actually selling.

And if you want to check the perfumes physically, you can visit us at our Aftabnagar location in Dhaka.

That's the approach we want NawmeEssences to take.

We are a perfume decant business based in Bangladesh, and our goal is to make fragrances from our collection available in smaller quantities so you can try them without committing to a full bottle.

No confusion about what a decant is. No pretending it is an official miniature. Just the fragrance in the size you choose.
